It is with sad heart that I inform neighbors of the plans for the Luther Forest Tech Campus.
No matter how you feel about this project (take it up in the Tech Park message board) you should be aware of the full impacts to our property.
Plans call for a huge power line corridor to follow approx. along Stone Break Road (the entrance to Racemark). These towers will be like the ones that cross the northway and go in back of the new hotel. These will be very high voltage lines, the kind that hum and buzz in foggy weather. The lines will parallel Bellflower Road.
It appears that the lines will cut through a Bellflower property (at the elbow of the road) and will encroach upon Fox Wander East "forever wild" land. The land will be taken by eminent domain. The corridor will be maintained by clearing and the use of herbicides. The towers will be higher than the surrounding trees and will be seen by surrounding properties.
The main entrance to the site will be an extension of Stone Break Road running with the power line corridor alone the back of Bellflower Road. This will be a 24/day entrance and will have lights along it. Those of you who walk back that way may know the trail that goes down a steep hill and crosses the stream. This will be the road bed.
The origonal plans called for a shortcut to be made between the site entrance and Fox Wander West through Racemark. Due to my letters to Meager and the Town Board this shortcut was dropped.
The Town Board is very receptive to public input (as evidenced by the change to the shortcut) and is very sensitive to the power line issue. I encourage all concerned neighbors to give your feedback to Dave Meager. I can provide more information and maps to those interested - email to info@maltatechpark.com
Please, lets not turn this thread into an argument about the tech park, keep the focus on the impacts to our neighborhood. If you thought boats and RVs are unsightly, imagine looking at those towers glowing above the streetlights.
